MusiCore Kensington takes place at Kensington High School: 2051 E Cumberland St, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
Get the full music experience in a judgement-free creative environment! Students learn their choice of instrument (bass, guitar, drums, piano, or voice), form bands, write and record original music, learn to play cover songs, participate in a choir, and perform live at least twice during the program year. Homework help and tutoring is offered every day, along with creative workshops and performances from musical guests from a variety of genres. MusiCore Kensington is free as long as students commit to attending and participating regularly.

- After school until 6:00 pm
- Monday-Friday during the school year (September-June)
- Students can go to any school or be homeschooled, but must live in Philadelphia.
In the MusiCore Kensington after school program, students receive:
-Group music lessons on guitar, bass, drums, voice, or keyboard
-Weekly band practice with a band coach to write original music and learn cover songs
-Creative workshops like stage performance and digital music production
-Artist spotlight class with guest performances from local and national musicians
-(optional) Weekly vocal ensemble practice
-Daily homework help from qualified tutors
-Report card reviews and tutoring in trouble subjects
-A winter performance and a year end performance at a professional venue like World Cafe Live
-Yearly opportunity to record music at professional studios like Drexel University MAD Dragon records and Miner Street Recordings
-High school seniors receive college application and scholarship writing support
To qualify, students:
-Must be in grade 6-12 (or entering 6th grade in the upcoming school year)
-Must live in Philadelphia
-Must fit income requirements. We use 200% of the poverty level. We may request income verification. If you are above the level you may apply and we will request an additional essay indicating need.
-Must commit to attending Rock to the Future Monday – Friday (middle school students) or Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday OR Thursday (high school students) directly after school until 6pm
-Must have your own transportation (walking, public transportation, parent provided) to get to and from Rock to the Future’s Kensington location each day. SeptaKEY transportation costs can be provided if needed.
-Must commit to improving grades and maintaining good grades.
