The Youth Action Council (YAC) is a leadership opportunity for Rock to the Future students to address issues in their community through music, advocacy, empowerment, personal talents and assets. This will be a space for students to build skills and capacities for making decisions and solving problems. Rock to the Future's goal is to incorporate youth development, leadership development, and youth civic engagement to see a direct positive impact in the communities we serve.
Youth Action Council members will join twice-monthly student-led sessions regarding areas of social justice, leadership, and service, with emphasis on achieving social change within their community. Additionally, they will learn to think critically about pressing social and political issues affecting the world as a whole, and how to take action.
If you're passionate about social justice, courageous expression, artistic collaboration and community care, please apply!
Youth Action Council Meetings will take place from 3:30pm-5:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, from November-June. Location will vary between Roosevelt Elementary School (430 E Washington Lane), the RTTF office (2644 Coral St), and virtual.
